Microschool Program
2024-2025 Open Enrollment
Due to high demand, we currently have a waitlist for new learners. To be added to this waitlist, please complete the online form available here.
Our fall Microschool program fosters a strong community of learners, similar to a homeschool co-op, but with professional staffing—no teaching, volunteering, or extra fees required from parents. We offer drop-off enrichment for homeschooling families, emphasizing real-world socialization. Learners enjoy high-speed internet, a Chromebook, and a Google Classroom account for tech-based projects, with accommodations for those who prefer typing or graphic design software. See our technology policy for safety details.

At Raising Brain, our project-based curriculum integrates subjects like history, science, art, and engineering, complementing home studies for students ages 5-15. The program promotes collaborative learning and self-paced progression, fostering critical thinking and creativity through real-world applications.

We use mixed-age groups to encourage peer learning, mentorship, and leadership. Older children support younger ones, reinforcing their learning and building empathy, while younger students are exposed to advanced concepts and role models.

Our program also prioritizes social-emotional learning through group projects and collaborative activities, helping students build interpersonal skills and a strong sense of community.

We also offer Homeshcool Consulting for those who are new to or considering homeschooling.
Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays 9am - 3pm
TUESDAYS
WEDNESDAYS
Every Wednesday afternoon from 1 to 3 PM, we will have an engaging Spanish class that incorporates music, movement, poems, rhymes, lessons, books, Montessori materials, and plenty of fun.
This dynamic session will be led by a skilled Montessori Spanish teacher.
THURSDAYS
On Thursdays, students will have the opportunity to prepare a hearty pot of soup or stew for lunch. They are invited and encouraged to bring a vegetable of their choice to contribute to the dish. This activity is modeled after the Japanese practice called, "Kyushoku" which is the term for school meals, which are often prepared and eaten together by students and teachers. This practice is not just about eating; it also includes aspects of cooking, nutrition education, and socialization. Kyushoku helps students learn about healthy eating habits, teamwork, and the cultural significance of food. Students do not have to eat the soup if they do not wish to, but will enjoy being a part of making it for their friends!
This activity is designed to foster a sense of community and togetherness while enjoying a delicious meal that they've crafted themselves. Cooking offers many opportunities for learning form language arts to math!
Please note, there will be a list of ingredients to avoid sent home for students with food allergies.
FRIDAYS
(Last Friday of Each Month)
On one Saturday each month from 10 AM to 12 PM, students can explore our outdoor nature classroom, located 13 miles from the school campus in Amissville.
Spanning 10.5 acres, the property features well-maintained trails and two creek systems for discovery. Learners will keep nature journals and explore various aspects of the natural world, from creek life to volcanic rock formations.
Activities will include learning survival skills, identifying plants and animals, and building their own forts or fairy houses. Parents and siblings are welcome to join in the fun. We'll also enjoy a picnic lunch on one of the creek’s sandy beaches. Restroom facilities and water are available on-site.
